An Indiana Taco Bell really wants 5-star recruit Romeo Langford to pick the Hoosiers

Five-star shooting guard Romeo Langford is the highest-rated recruit who hasn’t yet picked his college for 2018 and beyond. If a Sellersburg, Indiana Taco Bell has anything to do with it, he’ll stay close to home at Indiana University.

Andy Luther snapped a picture Tuesday evening that shows the southern Indiana restaurant sending a digital overture to the blue chip prospect. Langford, who is from nearby New Albany, has the Hoosiers in his final three schools but has yet to confirm an official announcement date. Indiana is competing with Kansas and Vanderbilt in the race for the sweet-shooting guard.

It’s a ... weird development in what’s already been a drawn out recruiting period for a player 247Sports rates as the nation’s No. 5 high school senior. Langford put off making an announcement while many of his peers signed NCAA letters of intent, instead opting to play out the final season of his high school career without being tied to any one program. He narrowed his list of suitors down to three back in November, and he’s been coy enough to keep all three fanbases in suspense as he makes the choice that will define his future.

Kansas can point to a long list of NBA stars who developed their talent under Bill Self while racking up Big 12 titles every year since 2005. Vanderbilt can add him to the greatest recruiting class in program history — Langford would make it three five-star players for third-year coach Bryce Drew — and offer the promise of building a legacy at a school that’s never seen a Final Four.

And Indiana, despite some lean years, can offer an elite basketball pedigree while making him a hero in his home state. It would also make his local Taco Bell extremely happy.
