American women have what looks to be their best shot to win the Boston Marathon for the first time in a very long time. Molly Huddle, Jordan Hasay, Desi Linden, and Shalane Flanagan are just four of the American women in contention for the 122nd running of the Boston Marathon.
Boston Marathon 2018 live stream: How to watch the race online
The Boston Marathon is here, and this is how you can stream the race online, via phone or other connected devices.

The men’s field is also fairly packed, though Galen Rupp, last year’s runner-up, remains the favorite among American men. The marathon will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN nationally, though the Elite Women’s group will start at 9:32 a.m. while the Elite Men’s group will start at 10 a.m. Live streaming online can be had via NBC Sports, fuboTV, and locally via CBS Boston.
Kenya’s Edna Kiplagat won the women’s race last year, at age 37. She’ll be defending her win, and is the primary woman standing in the way of a US win. Caroline Rotich of Kenya and all of Aselefech Mergia, Buzunesh Deba, and Mamitu Daska of Ethiopa are the other international women to watch.
They will be tasked with besting Huddle, Hasay, Flanagan, and Linden, along with some other American women that have gone under the radar, like Serena Burla and Kellyn Taylor.
Rupp came within 21 seconds of winning the Boston Marathon in 2017, finishing just behind Geoffrey Kirui of Kenya with a time of 2:09:58. Rupp’s personal marathon record isn’t among the best in the field, but neither was Meb Keflezighi’s when he won the marathon in 2014, becoming the first American man to do so since 1983. Rupp is trying to become the first American-born runner to win the marathon since that same year.
The elite women are expected to finish in the 11:50-11:59 a.m. window, while the elite men will cross the line sometime around the 12:05-12:15 p.m. mark. For a full look at the course map, you can check the marathon’s official website, along with a full list of road closures from Boston’s official site.
