The Greatest Royal Rumble had something even Wrestlemania didn’t: a cruiserweight championship match on its main card. True to form, Cedric Alexander and Kalisto put together some show-stealing aerial fireworks to to prove the value of the WWE’s little guys in Saudi Arabia.
Greatest Royal Rumble results: Cedric Alexander retains cruiserweight title
A Salida-del-Sol counter to a Lumbar Check capped an exciting championship match.

In the end, Alexander’s power and inventiveness proved too much as a series of counters led him to his biggest title defense yet.
The two men earned a low-key round of applause from a crowd. The announcing team reminded us Alexander hasn’t had a televised match since Wrestlemania. That’s a tremendous shame, because a ridiculous athlete like Kalisto is a tremendous foil for the former Ring of Honor star.
The match itself began with a display of moonsaults and hurricanranas designed to put everything the cruiserweights on 205 Live can do on display.
While a handful of rest holds slowed down the action in the middle of the match, it served as a refueling station for the two athletes as Kalisto’s comeback led to more flips and, uh, good lucha things.
in the end, a seated springboard Spanish Fly gave Kalisto the momentum to put Alexander away, drawing a 2.5 count and stunning the champ. After a brief striking battle, the luchadore set up his Salida del Sol finisher ... only to have it countered into an Alexander Lumbar Check. Kalisto couldn’t kick out, and Alexander was able to retain his big purple belt.
Should I watch this match later?: Yes. Feel free to skip a couple minutes in the middle if you’re pressed for time, but Alexander and Kalisto put on a show, even if it’ll get lost in the shuffle of Friday’s overstuffed event.
