Marquette King, who was tragically cut by the Oakland Raiders in late March, took just a week to find a new home — with another AFC West team, no less. King signed a three-year deal with the Denver Broncos, the team announced Thursday.
Marquette King signs with the Broncos, and now he can pretend to ride a horse after every punt
MARQUETTE BACK!

King has been one of the NFL’s best punters since he signed with the Raiders in 2012 as an undrafted free agent. He played in 80 games, recorded 426 punts for 19,941 yards with a 46.8 average, and pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line 156 times with 33 touchbacks.
King was reportedly released by new Raiders coach Jon Gruden for many of the reasons that people liked him — his fun personality.
It didn’t seem to bother him though:
King gained his fame for the fun he has on and off the field. He’s dabbed after punts, rode a bronco after booting a punt against the Broncos, and has also danced with flags that referees throw.
Now that’s a member of the Broncos, his rodeo celebration may become a staple.
When he talked to Denver media, King didn’t put any blame on the Raiders organization.
Though of course, he didn’t pick the Broncos for no reason:
If it wasn’t clear enough:
And if this is his actual signature, that’s amazing:
The thin air in Denver has long been a help for kickers, but it hasn’t resulted in a significant difference for Broncos punters, historically. King appears to thrive in the altitude, though, and has a career average of 50 yards per punt in his five games in Denver.
King’s going to undoubtedly become a new fan favorite, and it’s hard for him not to be. He loves dressing up in costumes, particularly his green Power Ranger outfit. He might even start punting random objects in his free time.
“I go out every day practicing, just trying to be the best, and with the mindset of having fun at the same time.” King told SB Nation in December 2016.
There’s no question he’s going to play like that throughout the rest of his career.
