Stephen Curry will return from injury in Game 2 after the Warriors won Game 1 by 22

Two-time Warriors MVP Stephen Curry will return to action from a leg injury for Game 2 against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes.

Curry hasn’t played in a game since March 8, when he strained the MCL in his left leg two minutes into a regular-season game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Coach Steve Kerr told reporters there will be no minutes restriction for Curry after he scrimmaged Sunday and that after multiple conversations and practice runs, the star point guard is ready to go.

The Warriors handily won Game 1, 123-101, without Curry, so there is clearly no urgency for the all-star guard to return to the floor. But Kerr wants Curry to establish his rhythm and conditioning after being out of the rotation for so long.

Golden State cruised to a 22-point win against a New Orleans team that surprisingly swept Portland in the first round. Now the Warriors are getting the most feared shooter in NBA history back, and he probably wants to gun his way back into game shape. That spells doom for the Pelicans already.

Jrue Holiday proved guarding Damian Lillard he’s one of the toughest two-way guards in the league, and he’ll be glued to Curry’s hip all game long. But the stickiest defenders have had trouble checking Curry, who uses off-ball screens more than any other point guard to shed his defenders.

The Warriors proved they had the Pelicans’ number in Game 1. Now Curry’s expected to return for the rest of the series. New Orleans had better start searching for answers. Because what goes around comes around, and what the Pelicans dished out in the first round could be headed their way in the second.
