Trae Young did it again, but he wasn’t the only story

After lighting the Bulls up for seven threes on 13 attempts in Atlanta’s Summer League win on Tuesday, Trae Young proved he can get it done on the court in more ways than solely from behind the three-point line. The Hawks’ rookie point guard shot just 2-of-7 from deep on Wednesday, but finished with 23 points and eight assists in his team’s comeback 107-101 win over Indiana.

The No. 5 overall pick put his dazzling passing skills and court vision on display in the fourth quarter, where he ended the game with five consecutive assists, followed by a floater down the middle of the lane that gave the Hawks a four-point lead with just seconds left on the clock. He certainly had help, including rookie Zhaire Smith who was a plus-23 off the bench, but Young helped chip away at and ultimately overcome a 27-point deficit.

Young’s consecutive breakout games are a welcome sign for Hawks fans, who nearly fainted as a collective unit after his 6-of-35 start from behind the arc. But he wasn’t the only story from Wednesday night. Here’s what you missed if you didn’t tune in:

Sexton finished with 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting to go with seven assists and four rebounds. None of his points came from behind the arc. For the most part, he put his head down and got to the rim, or the foul line.

Blakeney dropped 28 points, made all 10 of his free throws and shot 4-of-8 from three in the Bulls’ win over the Mavericks on Wednesday.
