One year ago, Nick Foles was a veteran backup quarterback who was struggling to find his place in the league. Now he’s the NFL’s hottest-selling star.
Eagles fans made Nick Foles the NFL’s top merchandise seller from March to May
Eagles fans can’t get enough of the Super Bowl MVP’s merch.

No player in the league sold more officially-branded merchandise between March and May of 2018, according to data released by the NFL’s Players Association Thursday. That means that when it came to jerseys, bobbleheads, t-shirts, posters, photos, and more, Foles was the game’s most popular player.
He beat out Tom Brady and the man who will likely push him back to the bench this fall, Carson Wentz, for the top spot:
The Top Ten among all licensed product sold:
1. Nick Foles, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
2. Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots
3. Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
4. Saquon Barkley, RB, New York Giants
5. Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys
6. Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers
7. Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Dallas Cowboys
8. Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers
9. Odell Beckham Jr., WR, New York Giants
10. Derek Carr, QB, Oakland Raiders
Quarterbacks dominated the list, taking six of the top 10 spots and 10 of the top 20. The Eagles were well represented as well. Winning the Super Bowl proved lucrative in Philadelphia, as players from the defending champs took up seven of the 50 spots in the rankings, more than double the amount of any other team.
The most impressive entry may not be Foles, however. Saquon Barkley has only been in the league since April 26, when he was drafted by the New York Giants. Despite only having a little more than a month of sales behind him, he still shot up to No. 4 on the NFLPA’s ranks. That put him head and shoulders about the rest of his rookie class:
Rookies on the NFLPA’s top sellers list, March-May
Rank | Player | Position | Team |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | Saquon Barkley | RB | Giants |
| 20 | Sam Darnold | QB | Jets |
| 30 | Baker Mayfield | QB | Browns |
| 38 | Josh Allen | QB | Bills |
| 43 | Shaquem Griffin | LB | Seahawks |
Barkley’s rise was marked by some serious apparel sales. No replica jersey in the league was more popular than the first-year player’s No. 26:

1. Saquon Barkley, Giants
2. Carson Wentz, Eagles
3. Tom Brady, Patriots
4. Nick Foles, Eagles
5. Dak Prescott, Cowboys
6. Aaron Rodgers, Packers
7. Jimmy Garoppolo, 49ers
8. Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys
9. Derek Carr, Raiders
10. Marcus Mariota, Titans
Defensive players got the short end of the stick when it came to merchandise sales. The top-selling defender was Jaguars’ All-Pro cornerback and all-world trash talker Jalen Ramsey at No. 19 — three spots lower than the recently retired Jason Witten. In all, only nine defensive players made the top 50.
That, of course, was better than the league’s lineup of punters and kickers, who put zero representatives on the list.
