LeBron James left the Cleveland high and dry for Los Angeles this summer, and by all accounts, that’s not a good thing. But head coach Tyronn Lue spent the Cavaliers’ media day attempting to spin this into a positive. It just doesn’t seem like it’s gonna work out the way he thinks.
Look at Tyronn Lue’s quotes about life after LeBron James
Not much to be positive about in Cleveland, folks.

There are no losses, only lessons
Lue said “it’s not about wins and losses, it’s about wins and lessons.” And by some measure, that’s true: if you don’t learn from your mistakes, you’re not doing this right.
But there’s a good chance the Cavaliers miss the playoffs this season after four straight trips to the NBA Finals. The lesson there is to do a better job at keeping the best player in the world happy.
No go-to guy
Lue also said the Cavaliers don’t have one guy they have to get the ball to anymore. That’s funny: They just gave Kevin Love a four-year, $120 million contract extension. I bet he’d have something to say about go-to guys on this roster.
As a matter of fact, Cleveland probably wishes they had another such go-to guy on the roster: one who could force the defense to help every play, which, as a result, got open looks for his teammates. That sounds pretty familiar, doesn’t it?
We haven’t lost yet
No one has any losses yet, Ty Lue. The season hasn’t even — nevermind.
Cleveland’s first two games are at Toronto and at Minnesota. Let’s see if his tune changes by then.
In some ways, this can be a breath of fresh air for a head coach. It could be a chance for Lue to finally leave his mark on a game plan that was controlled by ball-dominant playmakers since he took the job years ago.
But there is no positive to be found in LeBron James leaving Cleveland a summer after Kyrie Irving left. There’s no way to spin that. It’s the hand the Cavs were dealt.
And it’s Tyronn Lue’s job to play it: positive or negative.
