We don’t need to rehash Jeff Fisher’s coaching career. I could rattle off 7-9 reasons why the man was grossly overrated for more than two decades, but I’ve already done that. Mercifully, he hasn’t managed to find his way back to an NFL sideline. However, because the league and its apparatus is dedicated to giving uninspired middle aged white men third, fourth and fifth chances, Fox Sports paid Fisher for his color commentary during the Jets vs. Jaguars game this week.
Jeff Fisher is boring us with his 7-9 bullshit in the broadcast booth
As dull in the booth as he was on the field.

Guess what?
He’s not very good at it.
The man offered audiences a reminder of his fondness for anus-clinched coaching decisions.
There is literally no field goal or check down pass that he won’t approve of, or even get moderately excited about.
Having watched all his shitty years with the Rams, I became convinced there was no situation where he wouldn’t rather kick a field goal. I was right!
When Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon caught a short crosser just over the line of scrimmage and took it to the house for a 31-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Fisher informed the audience that it was nice to have two running backs who can play well. Not a surprise from the man who drafted multiple running backs with top 100 picks during his coaching days. He even tried to committee Todd Gurley during Gurley’s rookie year.
But it wasn’t his praise for having two running backs that stood out on the Yeldon touchdown. It was his admiration for Blake Bortles. He talked up the pass like it was a rope into triple coverage, adding:
Fisher: “Is Bortles still perfect today?”
Play-by-play guy: “No he’s not.”
Fisher: “Well he’s perfect in my book.”
Worse, he’s sooooooooo boring.
Even if you love check downs and not going for it on fourth and short in the opponent’s territory, FIsher will bore you.
I will acknowledge, this shit is hard to do. It seems so easy, but that’s one way you can tell the good commentators from the Fishers and Jason Wittens and Phil Simmses out there.
But my god, couldn’t they have known?
