The San Antonio Spurs are fighting to maintain a playoff spot in the competitive Western Conference, while the Phoenix Suns are fighting to maintain a competitive spot to land Zion Williamson. So a tie game at 124 in the final seconds of a game between the teams on San Antonio’s home court was surprising, to say the least.
The Spurs won a game they shouldn’t have, and Gregg Popovich was MAD
Classic Pop.

The Spurs escaped embarrassment though, as Rudy Gay knocked down a contested jumper at the buzzer for the win.
The Spurs were so happy!
Well, unless their name was Gregg Popovich.
After the win, Pop gave a 27-second speech to the media in which nothing was positive was said, despite winning the game. In fact, by my count, 10 negative things were said at an average rate of 2.7 seconds between words of disappointment.
Popovich: We were really fortunate to win the game. I thought that they out-played us, out-coached us, out-physicaled us, out-executed us. We had no respect for them or for the game. We didn’t play with each other. It was a pathetic performance, and Phoenix got robbed.
At 30-22, the Spurs are currently No. 6 in the playoff standings, overachieving given the circumstances of losing both Kawhi Leonard to a forced trade and Dejounte Murray to a torn ACL.
But Pop is still not pleased.
