Get better, Boogie.

DeMarcus Cousins exited Game 2 of the Warriors’ playoff matchup against the Clippers in the first quarter with a left quad injury. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, it’s a torn left quadriceps.

The Warriors are already preparing for him to miss the rest of the postseason, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr confirmed that the injury was “significant” and he’ll be out “a while.”

It’s a devastating blow to the former all-star big man, who was in the middle of returning to form after a torn Achilles ended his year early last season.

Cousins’ injury was non-contact, usually a sign of a grim diagnosis. He was chasing a loose ball before his left leg buckled beneath him. Even more grim is the fact this is an injury to the same leg he tore his Achilles tendon on last season as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans.

This is also devastating news for Cousins personally. After making a recovery from an injury deemed one of the worst possible diagnoses in basketball, Cousins may be out yet again after just one career playoff game.

This could also affect his free agency this summer. Cousins did not receive a longterm contract offer to his liking last year, so he elected to go to the Warriors on a one-year, $5.3 million deal in the hopes of getting healthy, restoring his value, and contribute to a champion in the process. If this injury is serious, he will have trouble getting more money on the open market.
