The 2022 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday. It’s a fun event for all, and especially important for the individual players who have spent most of their lives preparing for this moment. To get to the next level, the professional football stage is an accomplishment in itself and a goal that many try to reach.

One of the quarterbacks hoping to hear their name called early in the draft is Ole Miss’ Matt Corral. Corral spent four years at Ole Miss where he threw for a combined 8,287 yards, 57 touchdowns and 23 interceptions.

He’s one of the many young prospects expecting to hear their name called this week, and he credits his military family upbringing for preparing him for success on and off of the football field.

Ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft, Corral has partnered with USAA to offer fans an inside look at the influence his family’s history of being in the military has had on him. Corral’s grandfather, father, older brother, three uncles and two cousins either have served or are serving in the Marine Corps.

“Something about the Marine Corps that gets the Corral family going,” Corral said. “I think it influenced me to be more disciplined. I come from a very disciplined family of doing everything the right way. Not about how slow or fast you do it, just making sure that you do it correctly in the right way.”

Corral is projected to be selected at some point in the first two rounds of the draft. Regardless of the team that selects him, Corral is the type of player who is going to come in on Day 1 and be a leader.
