Thailand destroyed Kuwait 57-0 in one of the biggest hockey beatdowns ever

STOP THE FIGHT!

James Dator
James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

One of the most lopsided victories in the history of hockey happened last weekend, and no, it didn’t involve a powerhouse like Canada or Russia. The U-18 Asian and Oceania Championship took place over the weekend and Thailand absolutely decimated Kuwait with a truly incomprehensible 57-0 score.

Thailand, which has transformed into a youth hockey juggernaut in recent years, outshot Kuwait 122-1 in the win. They scored 17 goals in the first period, followed that with 28 in the second — then decided to casually coast to another 12 goals in to close out the game.

Digging inside the numbers reveals some absolutely ludicrous stats.

  • Natapat Patong led all skaters with 13 points, made up of 7 goals and 6 assists
  • Natchayatorn Yannakornthannapunt plays defense, and still finished with 11 points — 7 goals and 4 assists
  • Kuwait’s poor goalie Faisal Allenqawi was kept in all game and to his credit managed to actually make 65 saves (along with the 57 he let in)
  • Thailand have a player named Kenneth Nathan Thongsong, which I mention as as excuse to post this photo of Sisqo.

Thongsong finished with four points.

Thailand has become one of the best, DGAF teams in international hockey. After years of getting stomped in international competition they’ve now developed such a youth powerhouse, and are getting revenge on everyone standing in their way.

Thailand next play Iran on Thursday, who lost 19-0 to Uzbekistan in their opening game. So, in other words, prepare for another big day for the Thai team. We’ll be following along.
