August was a busy month for the Class of 2025 when it comes to recruiting, as several of the top recruits in the country came off the board and committed to a program.
These are the top college football 2025 offensive recruits who committed in August
Several of the top 2025 recruits in the country found their next home this past month.

Four recruits on offense, ranked in the Top 20 of major recruiting sites, ultimately made their decision to commit. Let’s break down each situation and what each player brings to their next team.
Five-star OT David Sanders | Tennessee
Arguably the biggest commitment of the month, five-star offensive tackle David Sanders hit the news when he made the decision to commit to the Tennessee Volunteers on August 17th.
Sanders, the No. 3 recruit in the Class of 2025 according to 247Sports, is a consensus top-six recruit in the cycle, and had Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State, and Nebraska as a part of his top four schools prior to his commitment.
Upon committing to Tennessee, Sanders is the highest-rated recruit that the Volunteers have landed in the Josh Heupel era, marking another major victory for the program in the 2025 class.
Standing 6’5’’, 275 pounds, Sanders has great athleticism for the position and a frame that has the ability to put on weight, which is why his potential is of a first-round caliber tackle in the NFL Draft.
Entering his senior year at the Providence Day School in Charlotte, the five-star is the reigning North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year, which he’ll look to build upon in 2024.
Sanders now spearheads a loaded offensive line class for the Volunteers in 2025, joining five-star Douglas Utu (No. 12 in 2025 by Rivals), and four-star Nic Moore (consensus Top-250 recruit).
Five-star OT Michael Fasusi | Oklahoma
Another five-star offensive tackle recently went off the board, as Texas native Michael Fasusi closed his recruitment by committing to head coach Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners on August 21st.
Fasusi, who stands 6’6”, 295 pounds, had a number of major suitors, with Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oregon and Missouri cracking his top five, but ultimately, the Sooners won out for an August commitment.
Possessing great size, length, and athleticism, Fasusi has the traits of a first-round pick in the NFL, should he meet his potential in college.
Fasusi becomes the biggest piece in Oklahoma’s 2025 recruiting class, and could give the Sooners a second consecutive Top 10 recruit, as five-star defensive lineman David Stone signed with the program last winter.
This recruiting win is especially important for the Sooners, who are entering the SEC with a major victory over in-state schools Texas and Texas A&M by landing the five-star offensive lineman.
Fasusi joins Oklahoma four-star outside linebacker C.J. Nickson as the top recruits in the Sooners’ 2025 class.
Five-star WR Kaliq Lockett | Texas
Texas landed a pair of five-stars on offense this month, as wide receiver Kaliq Lockett elected to commit to the Longhorns, becoming a major addition to the program’s 2025 class.
Lockett, considered the No. 12 recruit and No. 2 receiver in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports, stands 6’2”, 180 pounds and had a major junior year for Sachse High School, catching 59 passes for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns.
A track athlete as well, the five-star receiver has a great frame and long arms, while showcasing an all-around game as a wideout. He has the ability to win on routes with solid speed and great acceleration, go up for contested catches consistently, and has good hands overall.
Lockett had a top five of Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida State, and LSU and Texas, ultimately siding with the in-state Longhorns for his college career.
He becomes the second-best recruit in Texas’s class of 2025 and a key victory for a program needing some of their elite in-state talent to commit to the Longhorns.
Lockett will work with wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, who has consistently put elite talent through to the NFL, and will vie to be an early-round selection in the NFL Draft should he reach his potential.
Five-star OL Josh Petty | Georgia Tech
Five-star offensive lineman Josh Petty made a major move earlier this month, committing to the in-state Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and head coach Brent Key.
Standing 6’5”, 255 pounds, Petty chose Georgia Tech over Ohio State, Florida State, Tennessee and Stanford, marking one of the program’s highest-rated recruits in history.
With his size, Petty may be better served as an interior offensive lineman at the next level, but has the room to add to his frame if he wishes to stick on the outside as a tackle.
Ranked the No. 14 prospect and No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 cycle by 247Sports, Petty is the top-ranked recruit for Georgia Tech’s 2025 class, joining fellow in-state recruits cornerback Dalen Penson (No. 123 by 247Sports), and offensive linemen Damola Ajidahun (No. 84 by On3) and Justin Hasenhuetl (No. 220 by ESPN) as commits.
Like a number of the top tackles in the class, Petty has great athleticism and length, which should project well for the NFL.
Despite a number of top-tier programs recruiting him, the five-star ultimately stayed close to home and will be a key building block for Brent Key’s 2025 class, which is starting to really shape out.
