Sometimes being petty in sports is all we have, and Robert Griffin III discussed it with us

There are a lot of complicated emotions involved in sports fandom. We all get that.

Highs, lows and in-between moments are all part of the ride of rooting for anyone, even all-time teams. Just ask Kansas City Chiefs or Golden State Warriors fans if every day has been rosy for them throughout their respective dynasties.

That is the positive end of the spectrum though and as a Dallas Cowboys fan I can tell you that life on the other end is just as rocky except without the ultimate payoff. Sometimes as as sports fan, in my case with the Cowboys, we are left with one real thing to cling to and that is sports pettiness. It is a real thing and if you don’t believe me just watch the upcoming first weekend of college football to see it play itself out in pure glory.

In an effort to understand this phenomenon better I decided to ask one of the greatest college football players of all time, former Heisman Trophy Winner Robert Griffin III. RGIII was kind enough to join me on the Blogging The Boys YouTube Channel this week (you can watch our conversation below) in a conversation about the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott and, yes, sports pettiness.

How exactly did pettiness come up, you ask? Allow me to explain.

RGIII joined on behalf of a partnership with SNICKERS and a new campaign of theirs called SatisFORTUNES. Basically SNICKERS has these bars that you can buy that relate to every NFL team that serve as fortune cookies, so to speak. Everything about each bite is supposed to predict the future for that NFL team: How long the caramel strand is after you bite, how many peanuts inside, the consistency of chocolate... you can read more below.

SNICKERS, the official Chocolate sponsor of the NFL, is giving fans a satisfying glimpse into the future with SatisFORTUNES, a guide to predicting your favorite team’s fate through one magical SNICKERS bite at a time. For fans to get in on the action, SNICKERS is releasing limited-edition SatisFORTUNES kits. Available in 21 NFL team iterations, each kit contains five limited-edition team SNICKERS bars, SatisFORTUNES based on team bites, and a Chocomancer-curated bite guide for fans to turn any bite of SNICKERS into a vision of the future.

How will fans get SatisFORTUNES Kits? Fans will be able to purchase kits at www.SNICKERS.com/satisfortunes from August 8/27 through September 6, while supplies last.

Given the current state of the Dallas Cowboys I told RGIII that all I have is sports pettiness so I needed to know how to sabotage the Philadelphia Eagles with the bar that I have for them. He suggested taking the smallest bite possible out of it, a difficult proposition when it is a SNICKERS bar that is involved.

Obviously I have to try. But i know I will fail. Just like my Dallas Cowboys.

Our thanks to Robert Griffin III and to SNICKERS for the time!
