San Antonio is one of the most charming cities in the United States. It has all of the offerings that big cities bring with them, but it also has the feel of a small town. Balancing those two qualities is difficult, but the Countdown City manages to do it in perfect fashion. There is an enormous amount of history, everyone has heard of the Alamo whether they remember doing so or not, and a strong military presence. There is something for everyone and the weather is fairly cooperative all year long. Simply put... San Antonio is a delight.

Best place to eat before the game

One of the best places in San Antonio is the Alamo Cafe. There are two locations within the city and therefore different points of accessibility. It has the total feel of what San Antonio is with some incredible Mexican food. One of the staples of the area, Alamo Cafe makes all of their tortillas on site and will even give you some honey if you want a sweeter kick to them.

Best place to celebrate a victory

The Roo Pub is a place that has really grown in popularity over the last few years. Positioned in the northern part of the city, Roo is an ideal place to celebrate anything Spurs-related or watch big-time sporting events with a crowd that is always going to be into it. The food is delicious, the vibes are great and you are guaranteed to have a fun time.

Best place to bounce back after a loss

Justin’s Ice Cream Company is on the Riverwalk and really hits on all of the elements that make San Antonio the special place that it is. If you are heading there after an loss (sorry!) odds are that it is in the evening and the Riverwalk looks beautiful with all of the lights on.

Best place to visit outside the arena

It goes without saying, but the Alamo really is worth your time. Getting a first-hand look and understanding of an important moment in history is always an experience and the Alamo will check that box. If you are feeling extra historical, the San Antonio Missions are also ripe with character and stories and you can even take guided tours of them.

Where the true San Antonio sports fan hangs for fun

The Rock at La Cantera is quickly becoming the go-to destination for all sports activities and interactions in San Antonio. Established by Spurs Sports & Entertainment, it has all of the qualities of true San Antonio sports. There are a number of different ways to be active on site as well as places to eat and socialize if that is the mood you are in.
