The second round of play at Hilton Head has come to a close and the leaderboard is absolutely marvelous.

It can sometimes be difficult for the week after a major championship to feel big, but the RBC being one of this season’s eight signature events for the PGA Tour goes a long way towards garnering a top field. Justin Thomas has the lead at 12-under par, but consider the other names lurking.

  • Si Woo Kim and Russell Henley (API winner) are both 10-under
  • Tommy Fleetwood, still searching for his first Tour win, is 9-under
  • Defending champion Scottie Scheffler, seeking his first win this season, is 8-under
  • Big names like Brian Harman, Collin Morikawa and Maverick McNealy are all 7-under

As noted Scottie Scheffler is seeking his first win of this season on Tour and just so happens to be defending champion at the RBC. While we are on the subject of players seeking to do things, Justin Thomas is looking to convert a first-round lead for the first time since 2019.

These are the kinds of stories that the Tour hoped would develop by way of assembling these signature events. It is looking like we are in for quite the weekend. Buckle up.
