Bryson DeChambeau wins LIV Golf Korea, first title since 2024 U.S. Open

The world of golf has seen some incredible victories so far this season.

Obviously Rory McIlroy won The Masters and that will be hard to top, but the upcoming PGA Championship at Quail Hollow is going to do its best to challenge the status quo.

You will recall that Rory outlasted his playing partner Bryson DeChambeau, among others, at Augusta last month. While Bryson did not finish second in that tournament, he did finish their at last year’s PGA at Valhalla. He also very notably finished ahead of second-place McIlroy as the U.S. Open Champion at Pinehurst.

These are just a handful of the storylines encircling golf at the moment and that they all meet and mesh with one another is part of the magic. Bryson added to that overall stew on Sunday as he picked up his first win since PInehurst with a victory at LIV Golf Korea.

It took a final round score of 66 for Bryson to come out ahead of Charles Howell III. While it is DeChambeau’s third title on the LIV circuit it is his first since 2023 and his first when entering the final round with a lead. Bryson was unable to close the door in Miami and at Mexico City under similar circumstances. Obviously he had a lead on Sunday in Augusta, too.

DeChambeau’s Crushers won the team side of LIV’s tournament this week as well so it was a clean sweep for him. As mentioned he finished second at Valhalla last year as Xander Schauffele won his first major championship, it goes without saying that he is in the best form that he has been in for quite some time.

Bryson is clearly the LIV player most positioned to hoist the Wanamaker Trophy in two weeks time. We will see what ultimately winds up happening there and whether or not McIlroy (who has had extreme success at Quail Hollow) or someone like RBC Heritage winner Justin Thomas (who won his first PGA title at the course) can do anything about it.
