The PGA Tour is in Philadelphia this week for the first time in quite a while.

The PGA Tour is in the middle of quite the frenzy right now what with Scottie Scheffler having won for the first time this season last week, a signature event taking place in this one and next week offering the annual PGA Championship. Buckle up, the fun is happening.

Scheffler will actually be absent from this week’s festivities as he is choosing to prepare for a shot at another major championship. Other players like Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele will be in attendance though and for what it’s worth that threesome there includes the reigning Masters Champion in McIlroy, RBC Heritage winner in Thomas and both the reigning PGA Champion and Open Champion in Schauffele.

While Schauffele will play host next week at Quail Hollow the Trust Championship this week is actually not taking place there, obviously. With the Truist’s annual venue serving as the host for the PGA Championship a replacement for the year was necessary and the Philadelphia Cricket Club stepped up.

The Philly Cricket Club is the oldest private club in the United States having been founded in 1854. It’s last tournament of serious record to host was the 2016 Senior Players Championship which Bernhard Langer won.

Ultimately the PGA Tour hasn’t been to Philadelphia at large since the 2018 BMW Championship which U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley won. We are seeing some different areas profiled across the sport of golf as a whole this season what with the PGA Tour returning to Philadelphia and the LPGA Tour recently hosting an event in Utah for the first time in over 60 years.

We will see who comes out on top in Philly this week.
