The LPGA has a new major champion and her name is Maja Stark.
2025 U.S. Women’s Open: Maja Stark made Sweden proud
Maja Stark is your 2025 U.S. Women’s Open Champion.

Play wrapped at Erin Hills on Sunday and ended with Maja raising the trophy that so many chased valiantly over the week. It took a 7-under par score for Stark to emerge victorious, two clear of Nelly Korda and Rio Takeda who tied for second.
This marks the first career major championship for Stark and it is a particularly notable one for Sweden. Stark is the first Swedish major champion since 2021 (Anna Nordqvist) and the third Swede to win the U.S. Women’s Open specifically (Liselotte Neumann in 1988 and Annika Sorenstam in 1996, 1995 and 2006) . Interestingly the Annika win in 2006 was the last time that a European at large won the U.S. Women’s Open.
You would not be out of line to call this season on the LPGA that of the Swedish as Stark is now the third Swede to take home a win this season joining Madelene Sagstrom and Ingrid Lindblad.
It was an eventful week for the LPGA Tour and one that Maja will remember more fondly than anyone else, obviously.
