2025 AIG Women’s Open featured bit of hole-in-one history

The 2025 AIG Women’s Open wrapped on Sunday and Miyu Yamashita walked away as the tournament’s winner. All congratulations to her.

While winning a major is the biggest takeaway there is also something that needs to be discussed relative to this year’s version of the event.

You see, across the entire four days there were two recordings of a hole-in-one. Any golfer knows how rare of an occurrence this is in general, but for it to happen during a major championship is pretty special in and of itself.

The first ace came on Friday, but more on that in a moment as it makes the story all the more incredible. This is Mimi Rhodes banking her shot in on Sunday for her ace.

The thing about Mimi is, as you can see, she did indeed bank her shot in off of Stephanie Kyriacou for her incredible moment. What is particularly amazing about this is not only that Stephanie came so close to having an ace herself right before Mimi, but Stephanie was the one who did have the ace on Friday!

Obviously this is an unreal string of coincidence and part of the magic that only golf can conjure up. Rhodes’ and Kyriacou’s aces made it so that this year’s Women’s Open was only the fifth in history to feature multiple aces.

Pretty incredible stuff.
