I want to make something clear: I post a lot about game show blunders in this space, but I’m certain I would make similar blunders under that much pressure. That said, WHAT:

“Surf play where we go.”
I can’t decide whether Stephen said “Surf play where we go” or “Surf clay where we go,” nor can I decide which is worse. “Play” doesn’t fit, but at least it makes some sense. Either way, “where” and “go” are way off and that whole phrase is sooooo far from being an actual song lyric or anything even vaguely resembling sense.
Again, it’s a lot of pressure. We’d all struggle. “Surf Play (Here We Go)” was always my favorite Jan & Dean song anyway.
