That’s a really good dog, too. Exceptional dog. Here’s the full explanation from Dylan Buell of the Frankfort State Journal:
So this happened tonight during a football game tonight between Frankfort High School and Western Hills High School, in-city rivals in Frankfort, Ky. During the second quarter, a dog randomly ran onto the field during a stoppage in play from the fan area behind one of the end zones (there’s just a gate around the field and there’s an opening at the corner). The dog walked through the Western Hills huddle before approaching the head ref, who penalized the dog for excessive cuteness and expelled him from play (he picked him up and carried him off the field).
And one more photo, for good measure:

“Yeah guys, coach said we’re running the play where everyone rubs my belly. Got it? OKAY HIKE. HIKE. I SAID HIKE. BELLY RUB. OMAHA. GUYS.”
