Donovan McNabb is rooting hard for the Blackhawks in the NHL Western Conference finals, and just like the rest of us, he likes to show support for his teams on Twitter:
Donovan McNabb is the best hockey fan on Twitter
Let's go Blackhawks tonight. Let's go up 2-1. Let's dominate @NHLBlackhawks pic.twitter.com/kQ7rnpSC5Z
— Donovan McNabb (@donovanjmcnabb) May 21, 2015 As someone who has a phone, tweets a lot and loves sports, I feel qualified to tell you that this is a perfectly executed bit of social media. It satisfies some of my Top Tips For Great Sports Tweeting:
1. Use an image and give credit!
McNabb could have just uploaded that Blackhawks logo by pressing down and selecting “save image,” but he showed his work for us with the Google search, Wikipedia link and copyright warning all visible. Now you know how to find your own Blackhawks logo! This is called the Mia Farrow Maneuver.
2. Keep your phone charged!
100 percent battery after 5 p.m. is a sign of excellent telephonic hygiene. McNabb balances the battery-sucking perils of Bluetooth by sticking to 3G.
3. Tag your favorite teams!
Great use of the @NHLBlackhawks tag, although the way this tweet is worded, it could be construed as McNabb demanding that we dominate the Blackhawks, as opposed to demanding that the Blackhawks dominate.
Anyway, the Blackhawks lost. Even perfect tweeting doesn’t ensure victory.
