Borussia Dortmund have announced that Jakub Błaszczykowski will be out for six weeks after picking up an ankle injury in Sunday’s match against Hannover 96. The injury is being described as an ankle sprain with some ligament damage.

Błaszczykowski, 26, was injured in the first half of the match and was substituted in the 39th minute. He’s started 9 matches in all competitions for BVB so far this season, and the majority of them have been on the right side of midfield. With Kuba out for some time, Jürgen Klopp will be turning to either Kevin Großkreutz or Ivan Perišić to fill the void.

You’d be hard pressed to find a player that has performed better over the last 12 months for Borussia Dortmund than Błaszczykowski. So far this season, the Polish international has three goals and three assists through the first seven matches. He leads the club in assists, and only Marco Reus has scored more goals with four.
