Kyriakos Papadopoulos signs extension with Schalke
The defender will remain with Schalke through 2016.

Papadopoulos, 20, has established himself as one of the first players written on the teamsheet for manager Huub Stevens. The centerback will make his 100th appearance in all competitions for the Royal Blues in the upcoming weeks and figures to be one of the centerpieces or the club for the next decade.
“I feel very well in Schalke and look forward to playing for the club for many years to come,” he said in a statement on the club’s website.
The Greek international was linked with big money move to Zenit St Petersburg over the summer, but Papadopoulos expressed his desire to remain with Schalke in Germany. He turned the move down and is now set for a long stay in the Bundesliga.
