Borussia Mönchenglabach have announced the signing of Max Kruse from SC Freiburg on a four year deal through 2017. The transfer fee was not publicly released, but Kicker speculates that it’s around €2.5 million.

Borussia Mönchengladbach have made a move preparing for this summer’s departures of Igor de Camargo and Mike Hanke by bringing in Max Kruse from SC Freiburg.

Kruse, 25, has nine goals and eight assists to his name so far this season. The midfielder has been a part of almost half of Freiburg’s 36 goals on the season. Christian Streich will find it difficult to replace Kruse this summer, but the manager has likely been planning for multiple departures this season. It is likely that they’ll also lose Daniel Caligiuri.
“We’re delighted that Max Kruse has chosen to join us,” said Gladbach’s director of football, Max Eberl. “He’s a fast, technically gifted player, who can be used in a variety of positions and will strengthen our forward line.”
Freiburg brought him in last summer for €500,000 from St. Pauli on a contract through 2015. The club will enjoy the roughly €2 million profit brought in from one year of service from Kruse.
