Augsburg moved ahead of Hoffenheim into the relegation playoff place with a hug 2-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday. Ji Dong-Won, on loan from Sunderland, was the hero of the day for Augsburg.

The forward scored a goal in both halves. His first came in the 27th minute. His shot took a deflection off of Bamba Anderson, leaving no real chance of a save for Oka Nikolov. Five minutes later, Augsburg should’ve been up by two. Paul Verhaegh was fouled in the area and drew a penalty, but Jan Ingwer Callsen-Bracker sent the spot kick way over the crossbar.

Ji scored his second in the 55th minute with a well placed shot that Nikolov could not save.

The win moves Augsburg three points ahead of Hoffenheim and three behind Fortuna Düsseldorf. They occupy the relegation playoff place at the moment. Frankfurt remain in sixth place and fall to four points behind Schalke for the final Champions League place.
