Hoffenheim are hoping a sweeping change will positively affect the remainder of the season as they move forward. Coming off of Saturday’s 3-0 loss against Schalke, Hoffenheim are now nine points behind Fortuna Düsseldorf for 15th place and escaping the relegation zone.
Hoffenheim appoint Markus Gisdol, fire Marco Kurz and Andreas Müller
Hoffenheim are hoping a massive overhaul will help them move forward and avoid relegation at the end of the season.

The board have relieved manager Marco Kurz and sporting director Andreas Müller of their duties effective immediately, and they have appointed former u-23 manager Markus Gisdol to manage the club for the remainder of the season and into the future.
Frank Briel, the club’s director of sport and finance, spoke on the move. “As a club, we have decided to undergo a systematic and comprehensive reconstruction. In view of doing that we contacted Markus Gisdol. He knows the club and the structural setup from his time here as the U23s manager. We have a huge sporting challenge ahead of us and we give Markus Gisdol our complete trust.”
Gisdol, 43, will be responsible for a “backroom revamp” alongside Alexander Rosen, who is the club’s new “head of professional football”. Hoffenheim will be hoping for a quick turnaround in order to remain in the top flight for next season.
“The focus irrespective of how this season pans out, is on Financial Fairplay,” said Dietmar Hopp. “We want to produce talent in order to offer attractive football to both existing and new fans again. We want to establish ourselves on a progressive path.”
