On Tuesday night, the LSU Tigers walked into Rupp Arena looking to pull off a huge conference upset.
‘The Tip’ lives on as a T-shirt for LSU fans to troll Kentucky
Whenever there’s an opportunity to one-up John Calipari and Kentucky, you have to take it.

However, not only would they be playing on the road in one of college basketball’s toughest environments, but John Calipari’s Kentucky team was on a 10-game winning streak and playing its best basketball of the season.
As our Ricky O’Donnell noted, Tuesday’s night matchup turned out to be a “modern day SEC classic,” with back-and-forth action all night. But as final seconds ticked down, controversy ensued when LSU’s Skylar Mays drove to the basket for a game-winning layup. As the shot rolled off the rim, teammate Kavell Bigby-Williams tipped in the ball as time expired to pull off the 73-71 upset.
Or did he? Did the ball actually clear the rim?
Take a look.
Now take a muuuuuuch closer look.
Kentucky fans obviously weren’t happy about the call, but to quote the great basketball philosopher Rasheed Wallace: “Ball don’t lie.”
Naturally, “The Tip” — as it’s known in LSU country — has become a T-shirt for Tigers fans to enjoy as their squad continues to chase an SEC title.
“The Tip” was a huge win on many levels, but most importantly, it elevated LSU solely into second place in the SEC standings.
With their matchup against No. 1 Tennessee looming on Feb. 23, the Tigers’ win against Kentucky puts them in prime position to possibly win their first SEC regular-season title since 2009 ... even if they may have gotten some help from the officials along the way.
But, hey, remember the three most important words in basketball: Ball. Don’t. Lie!
