Indiana Hoosiers center Cody Zeller was one vote shy of being a unanimous selection for the preseason All-America team, according to Sports Illustrated.

Indiana’s center was nearly a unanimous preseason All-America selection.


Zeller, a 7-foot center, averaged 15.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game last season. He received 64 votes from a national media panel.
The sophomore anchors a Hoosiers team that is ranked No. 1 for the first time in 33 years.
Also named to the team were:
- Doug McDermott, forward, Creighton
- Deshaun Thomas, forward, Ohio State
- Isaiah Canaan, guard, Murray State
- CJ McCollum, guard, Lehigh
- Trey Burke, guard, Michigan
McDermott’s name was on 62 ballots, two shy of Zeller. Canaan was on 43, Thomas was on 26, and both McCollum and Burke had 16 votes.
McDermott averaged 22.9 points per game last season, which ranked third in the country. He was a first-team All-America selection last season as well.
Canaan, a second-team All-America selection last season, averaged 19 points per game and shot 45.6 percent from behind the three-point line.
