College hoops tip-off marathon: Temple at Kent State live blog

12:06 - Kent State, which upset West Virginia in this event a season ago, comes into the game riding the momentum of a big overtime win over preseason CAA favorite Drexel. A win over Khalif Wyatt and the Owls would garner the attention of top 25 voters across the country.

Prediction: Temple by 5

12:08 - Gotta love this:

Nice work, Coach Sendy.

12:25 - Scootie Randall is going nuts and Temple is all over Kent State early, 25-11. Randall has 13.

12:29 - Kent State not looking interested in defending anyone, and as a result they’ve been doubled up. It’s 30-15 Temple with 7:36 to go in the first half. Disappointing effort from the home team so far.

12:37 - Temple’s good at basketball again. Lather, rinse, repeat. Owls are up 36-22 at the under four timeout.

12:43 - Randall, who missed all of last season because of injury, now has 17 first half points. Kent State is making a move, though. It’s 38-30 Owls with just over a minute to go until halftime.

12:46 - The shrieks from this woman in the crowd are going to haunt my dream when I actually do have the chance to sleep. They aren’t especially loud or shrill, they’re just indescribably odd.

12:47 - Temple dominates the first half, but let’s Kent State make up some ground late. It’s 40-32 at the break.

12:58 - ESPN is finally back to doing live halftime shows. That’s sweet of them.

1:12 - A nasty dunk from Kris Brewer momentarily ties the game at 46 before a Randall three puts the Owls back on top. Momentum is squarely on the side of the Flashes right now.

1:23 - Seriously don’t even know I would begin to describe these screams.

1:26 - The ESPN Social Media Hub looks like the saddest place in the world.

1:36 - Fran Dunphy’s club has taken back control. It’s 66-53 Temple with seven minutes to go.

1:50 - Kent State getting a little rattled here at the end. Two technical fouls and a hoard of turnovers. Temple leads 73-57 as we head to the game’s final TV timeout.

1:54 - Scootie Randall now has a career-high 30 points in his first game back in almost a year and-a-half.

1:59 - Temple moves to 1-0 with an impressive 80-66 win at Kent State. Scootie Randall is the man of the match with a career-high 31 points.
