The N.C. State Wolfpack had little trouble with the Penn State Nittany Lions on Thursday night, posting a 72-55 win in a quarterfinal matchup at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off between the two teams. The Wolfpack led by nine at halftime before blowing the game open in the second.

N.C. State wore Penn State down in the quarterfinals of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.


Freshman T.J. Warren led the way for No. 6 N.C. State, dropping 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Warren also added eight rebounds in 32 minutes of action.
Penn State’s Tim Frazier, a preseason All-Big Ten selection, led all scorers with 23 points on 6-of-20 shooting. He did most of his work from the foul line, where hit 10-of-11 attempts.
The Wolfpack stretched their advantage to as much as 25 in the second half before the Nittany Lions pulled closer late. N.C. State now moves on to the semifinals to face the winner of Providence and UMass. Penn State will face the loser of that game in the consolation bracket.
