The UCLA Bruins managed to edge out the Georgia Bulldogs, 60-56, in Tuesday's Legends Classic consolation game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. UCLA improved to 4-1 on the season, while Georgia fell to 1-4.
Shabazz Muhammad played fairly well in his second game coming off a brief stint of ineligibility, scoring 21 points, hitting six of his 12 field goals and nailing eight of 11 free throws. Travis Wear added 10 points and seven rebounds, and Kyle Anderson put in nine points and grabbed nine rebounds. UCLA shot only 41 percent from the field, but their 30 trips to the free throw line resulted in 20 points.
Georgia performed even worse, shooting under 38 percent and having only one Bulldog hit double figures. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led Georgia with 16 points and nine rebounds.
UCLA and Georgia were coming off losses in the semifinals of the Legends Classic, as the Bruins fell to Georgetown while the Bulldogs came apart against Indiana Hoosiers. Indiana and Georgetown will face off in the Legends Classic Championship game later Tuesday night.
