The Kansas Jayhawks earned their fifth win of the season by beating the San Jose St. Spartans, 70-57, in Lawrence.

Jeff Withey recorded double figures in points, rebounds and blocks in leading Kansas to victory over San Jose State.


Kansas led 60-36 before San Jose State answered with an 18-2 run to try to get back in it. Kansas pretty much locked down from there, though, and held on for the victory. No. 10 Kansas moved to 5-1 on the season, and handed San Jose State its third loss on the season.
Jeff Withey led the way for Kansas, compiling 16 points, 12 rebounds and a Jayhawk-record 12 blocks. Despite the storied history of Kansas hoops, it's only the second triple-double recorded in Jayhawks history.
Travis Releford had 13 points, four rebounds and four assists, Ben McLemore put in 13 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished three assists, and Elijah Johnson added 13 points and five assists. Kevin Young put in six points and eight rebounds.
James Kinney had an excellent performance for San Jose State, putting up 19 of his 30 points in the second half to pull the Spartans back within striking distance.
