No. 3 Michigan vs. No. 18 NC State: Wolverines ward off Wolfpack, 79-72

The Wolverines defeated the Wolfpack, 79-72, to stay undefeated and notch a win in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge on Tuesday night.

The No. 3 Michigan Wolverines stayed unbeaten and earned a win for their conference in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge, downing the No. 18 N.C. State Wolfpack, 79-72, at home on Tuesday night.

Michigan's dynamic trio of Trey Burke (18 points on 5-of-9 shooting, 11 assists), Tim Hardaway, Jr. (16 points, 7-of-18 shooting from the floor), and Glenn Robinson III (11 points, seven rebounds) led the Wolverines past the Wolfpack's balanced attack, with four starters scoring in double figures. Forward T.J. Warren led N.C. State with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field and four rebounds.

Freshman guard Nik Stauskas added 20 points, hitting 4-of-7 three-pointers off the bench for the Wolverines, who drilled 9-of-24 from behind the arc compared with the Wolfpack's 2-of-8 collective three-point shooting for the night.

Michigan took a 43-36 lead into the halftime break, as they led by as much as 14 points before N.C. State was able to trim the lead in the last seven minutes. After going back and forth to begin the contest, the Wolverines used a 12-2 run to create the first real distance between the two teams, going up 21-12 with 11:30 remaining in the opening half.
