Michael Dixon Jr. leaves Missouri basketball team, per report

Michael Dixon Jr. has reportedly left Missouri due to allegations of sexual assualt.

Guard Michael Dixon Jr. has been suspended from the Missouri Tigers basketball team since Oct. 26, but now he has decided to leave school altogether. Dixon had been suspended by head coach Frank Haith, who said that Dixon was out due to violating a team rule.

The reason that Dixon has decided to move on is because he has been accused of forcibly raping a woman back in August of this year. Charges were brought forward, but there was not enough evidence to prove that Dixon would be guilty in a court of law.

Fed up with the allegation, Dixon sent a text to a friend saying that he is leaving school:

“Yea I’m done here bro I’m not gonna be here anymore another girl my freshman year pulled this ... on me now it’s coming out and everyone is gonna think it’s real so I’m thru bro I appreciate you tho just let as many (people) as u can know”

He then wrote in a subsequent message: “I have never harmed anyone”

The prior incident that Dixon is referring to happened back in 2010, when he was accused of raping a young woman. There were no charges pressed at the time, since the girl did not want her family to know what happened or for them to be harassed. The women also felt that she would not be believed since Dixon was a basketball player for Missouri.

In 2010, the women did tell then-Missouri coach Mike Anderson about what happened, and he said that nothing could be done until she discussed the allegations with the police. Dixon was ultimately suspended a few games in the early part of the 2010 season, because Anderson felt he had to do something.

Dixon was to be a key player for Missouri this season. Last year, he was named as the Big 12’s Sixth Man of the Year, and also was named to the league’s All-Defensive Team.
