The No. 13 Minnesota Golden Gophers used a late first half run to propel themselves to a 70-57 win over the North Dakota State Bison at home on Tuesday night.

Rodney Williams Jr. led the Golden Gophers with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, adding six rebounds and three steals as well. Andre Hollins added 11 points and six assists.

Trevor Mbakwe posted a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 18 boards for Minnesota. For the Bison, Lawrence Alexander scored a team-high 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field.

The Golden Gophers took a 37-26 lead into the halftime break. Up three with about two-and-a-half minutes left in the opening frame, Minnesota used an 8-0 run to end the half to give themselves momentum and breathing room heading into the locker room. Andre Hollins drilled a pair of three-pointers in that span, and Mbakwe added a dunk and a block in between to add to the late Golden Gopher surge.

The Bison will next face the Towson Tigers on the road Saturday, Dec. 15, while Minnesota hosts the Lafayette Leopards on Saturday, Dec. 22.
