No. 4 Syracuse vs. Canisius final score: Orange coast past Golden Griffins

The Syracuse Orange defeated the Canisius Golden Griffins 85-61.

The Syracuse Orange rode a strong second half to an 85-61 victory over the Canisius Golden Griffins at the Carrier Dome. The Griffins kept the game close in the first half, only trailing by three at half, but the Orange outscored Canisius by 21 after the break.

Syracuse had a hot-shooting night, making more than 50 percent of their shots from the field and from behind the three-point line. Canisius shot 35 percent from the field.

James Southerland led all scorers with 21 points off the bench, shooting 9-14 from the floor and 3-6 from beyond the arc. Brandon Triche also had an efficient night, shooting 7-11 from the field and 2-3 from downtown en route to 19 points. Michael Carter-Williams posted a double-double, scoring 12 points and dishing out 14 assists.

Isaac Sosa and Billy Baron each scored 15 points for the Golden Griffins, with Sosa scoring all of his points on three-point shots.
