No. 9 Kansas vs. Richmond final score: Jayhawks stomp Spiders, 87-59

The Jayhawks built a huge halftime lead on the Spiders and never looked back en route to an 87-59 win at home on Tuesday night.

Four players scored in double figures for the No. 9 Kansas Jayhawks, as they jumped on the Richmond Spiders early and cruised to an 87-59 win Tuesday night in the Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas got 17 points (7-of-9 shooting from the floor) and 13 rebounds from senior center Jeff Withey and 14 points and seven boards from guard Ben McLemore, who also connected on 2-of-3 three-pointers. As a team, the Jayhawks shot 59.0 percent from the field while limiting the Spiders to an overall shooting night of 32.8 percent.

The Jayhawks led 39-18 at halftime, racing out to a 33-11 lead late in the half. With the game neatly in hand, 14 players saw on-court action for Kansas. Naadir Tharpe added 11 points and three assists off the bench, nailing 3-of-4 of his three-point attempts.

Richmond got double-digit point totals from four of their starters, as they were led by forward Derrick Williams, who scored 14 points (on 4-of-12 shooting) and hauled in five rebounds.
