The Blue Jays used a big first half to coast to victory.

Bob Stanton-USA TODAY Sports

The No. 17 Creighton Blue Jays moved to 11-1 on the season by defeating the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 71-54, on Wednesday night in Omaha.

Creighton stifled Tulsa in the first half to build a 38-20 lead. Reserve guard Avery Dingman led the Blue Jays in scoring with 21 points, dropping home four three-pointers in the second half to help his Creighton squad maintain the lead. Dingman finished a blistering 8-of-9 from the field, including a 5-of-6 performance from behind the arc.

Most of Dingman's teammates shot similarly well, as the Blue Jays were 52 percent from the field. Big man Gregory Echenique scored 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting while grabbing eight rebounds, and player of the year candidate Doug McDermott added 16 points.

Tulsa's James Woodard was the only Golden Hurricane in double figures, as the guard posted 15 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Creighton will enjoy nine days off before beginning Missouri Valley Conference play on Dec. 29 against the Evansville Aces. Tulsa remains on the road to face the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles on Saturday.
