Myck Kabongo to be suspended by NCAA for season, per report

The Texas guard will not see the court this season, according to a report.

Texas Longhorns guard Myck Kabongo will be suspended by the NCAA for the remainder of the 2012-13 college basketball season, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports.

Kabongo has been under investigation for months for possibly receiving impermissible benefits from an agent, which has kept the sophomore from taking the court so far this season. Now, Pat Forde and Adrian Wojnarowski report the hammer will fall on Kabongo for providing the NCAA with inaccurate information during the investigation.

Such a punishment would be consistent with the punishment handed to Dez Bryant, who was barred for a season while at Oklahoma State for reportedly lying to the NCAA during his investigation.

Kabongo is currently the No. 34 NBA draft prospect, according to Draft Express. In his freshman season, the 6’1 guard scored 9.6 points and dished 5.2 assists per game, helping the Longhorns to a 20-14 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
