Kansas was only up two at halftime, but a big second half helped propel the Jayhawks to their 14th win of the season.

Coming off an emotional win over Iowa State, the Kansas Jayhawks came out a bit flat against Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon. In the second half, No. 6 KU came out strong and worked its way to a convincing 60-46 win at the United Spirit Arena.

All-American big man Jeff Withey had another strong performance with 12 points and seven rebounds. Ben McLemore, who was coming off the best game of his career, went just 2-for-7 from the field on his way to 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Kansas shot 46 percent from the field. They went 19 for 26 from the free-throw line, which paid dividend in the closing minutes.

Texas Tech held strong early, but they just didn’t have the horses to hang with the nation’s sixth-ranked team for 40 minutes. Jamal Williams Jr. led the Red Raiders with 11 points. No other player reached double digits for TTU. As a team, they dished out just 10 assists and turned the ball over 14 times.

Next up for Kansas is a key Big 12 matchup with Baylor on Monday, Jan. 14. Texas Tech will look to get back on track against Oklahoma on Wednesday.
