Michigan State Spartans guard Travis Trice suffered an apparent head injury on Thursday against Illinois, and "could be out for a while," head coach Tom Izzo told MLive's Diamond Leung.

Trice took a knee to the head from an Illinois player in the first half and was held out for the remainder of the game. Trice went 0 for 2 from the field and 0 for 1 at the free throw line in 11 minutes of action as the Spartans fell down by 10 points early.

With Trice sidelined, Michigan State embarked on a 14-0 run out of the break and ended up dispatching of the Illini, 80-75, thanks to a 53-point second half.

Trice, a sophomore out of Huber Heights, Ohio, is averaging 5.8 points and 2.1 assists off the bench for the No. 13 Spartans. He missed time earlier this season after suffering a concussion in Michigan State’s season-opening loss to UConn, and was force to wear a mask upon his return.
