No. 24 Pittsburgh vs. Rutgers final score: Scarlet Knights upset Panthers

Eli Carter scored 23 points off the bench, leading the Rutgers Scarlet Knights past the Pittsburgh Panthers, 67-62.

Rutgers held a commanding 39-25 lead at halftime, but Pitt chipped away in the second half, cutting Rutgers’ lead down to 53-51 with just 4:27 left to go. Rutgers, however, did not relinquish the lead, and outscored Pitt down the stretch, 14-11.

Carter finished the game 6-of-14 shooting and was just 2-of-8 from three-point range, but was 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.

J.J. Moore led Pitt with 14 points, and was 3-of-6 from 3-point range.

Pitt guard Tray Woodall finished the game just 2-of-10 shooting for eight points, including 2-of-8 from 3-point range. Woodall added eight assists.

Rutgers out-rebounded Pitt 30-21, and shot 85 percent from the free-throw line (17-of-20) compared to Pitt’s 70.6 percent (12-of-17).

Rutgers’ next contest is on Wednesday, when the Scarlet Knights head to New York City to take on the St. John Red Storm. Pittsburgh heads to Georgetown to take on the the Hoyas on Tuesday night.
