Texas point guard Javan Felix had surgery on his left hip last week and is out indefinitely, according to Longhorn athletic trainer Eric Fry.
Texas guard Javan Felix out indefinitely with hip injury
Felix had surgery on Oct. 1 with no timetable set for his return.

Fry would not say more than that it was a hip injury and would not disclose when it occurred. Felix is expected to make a full recovery, but it is too early to set a timetable for his return.
Even if Felix isn’t out for a significant period of time, his absence is just another crushing blow to the Longhorns this offseason. Coach Rick Barnes has already lost his four top scorers, including two big transfers, from a team that went 16-18 last year. Sheldon McClellan left for Miami and Julien Lewis went to Fresno State.
The losses, both on and off the court, have seemingly put Rick Barnes on the coaching hot seat as Felix tries to work his way back. Felix started 23 games last year, averaging 6.8 points and 4.1 assists. He is the team’s leading returner in both categories.
Texas opens the season Nov. 8 against Mercer.
