Duke vs. Florida Atlantic final score: Blue Devils rout Owls, 97-64
Rodney Hood and the Blue Devils got off to a fast start and easily dispatched Florida Atlantic on Friday.
Hood and the Blue Devils were red-hot from the opening horn. Hood opened the scoring with a layup on Duke’s first possession and added five of his team’s next 10 points as the Blue Devils cruised to a 12-2 lead before the first TV timeout. Parker, who missed his first two attempts, got into the mix when play resumed by burying a three-pointer to put the Blue Devils up by 12.
The Owls never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.
Hood made 12 of his 13 attempts from the free throw line and hit on 8-of-11 field goal attempts. Parker was 4-of-6 from beyond the three-point arc and finished 7-of-13 from the field. Andre Dawkins heated up late, scoring eight straight points beginning at the 12:15 mark in the second half, and finished with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 5-of-8 from three-point range.
Rasheed Sulaimon, who was one of five Duke players to average in double-figures a year ago, got into foul trouble early in the second half and did not score for almost 38 minutes. He finished with four points.
Pablo Bertone paced the Owls with 17 points. Justin Raffington added 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
