Marshall Henderson scores 19 in return from suspension

The controversial 23-year-old scored 19 against Coastal Carolina in his first game back from suspension.

USA TODAY Sports

Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson, one of the most polarizing and controversial figures in sports, returned to the Rebels in a 72-70 win Saturday night over Coastal Carolina and delivered 19 points.

Henderson started the game on the bench, but logged 28 minutes. In addition to his scoring, he also pulled in four rebounds and recorded four steals.

The unpredictable guard launched 16 shots in the 28 minutes he was on the floor and hit just six of them. Four of those field goals were from behind the arc and he also knocked down three free throws.

The Rebels needed Henderson, however as they led by only two points with four minutes left when the senior nailed a triple. He then stole a pass in the backcourt and dunked the ball in to give Ole Miss a seven point lead.

Henderson was originally suspended indefinitely on July 10 for violation of team rules after a failed drug test. In late October, the suspension was moved to three regular season games. A complete timeline of his checkered past can be found here.
