Wichita State vs. Tulsa final score: Shockers pull away to stay unbeaten, 77-54

Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet both had career highs to lead the Shockers to a win on the road.

No. 14 Wichita State used a 19-6 run midway through the second half to pull away from Tulsa en route to a 77-54 win on the road Wednesday night.

The Shockers improved to 5-0 behind a pair of career highs from Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker. They each scored 21 points on a combined 14-23 shooting.

The game was tied at the half, but Wichita State took the lead for good on a VanVleet jumper with just over 14 minutes to play. VanVleet’s shot started the Shockers’ surge and Tulsa was never able to recover.

The Golden Hurricane didn’t help themselves, either. They shot just 13-30 from the line while the Shockers converted on 19 of their 24 attempts.

Overall, Wichita State blew Tulsa out in the second half, 46-23, and scored 14 of the game’s final 15 points.

Tulsa dropped to 0-3 for the first time in 36 years. The Golden Hurricane were led by Pat Swilling Jr., who came off the bench to score 14 points. They visit No. 23 Creighton on Saturday.
