The No. 18 Kansas Jayhawks used lockdown defense to blow out the Georgetown Hoyas, 86-64, at Allen Fieldhouse. Four Jayhawks scored in double digits and as a team they held the Hoyas to 41 percent shooting.

The Jayhawks defense was too much for the Hoyas to overcome in the Phog.
The game was close early, as Kansas struggled with turnovers and Georgetown capitalized. Georgetown stayed disciplined on defense and Kansas, particularly Andrew Wiggins, struggled to penetrate the Hoyas' zone. Markel Starks and D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera were able to work both in the fast break and in John Thompson III's backcourt cut offense.
That didn't last long. Kansas absolutely shut down the Hoyas behind big men Joel Embiid and Tarik Black and started to take over in the final few minutes of the first half. It didn't make much of a difference to the Kansas D that starting power forward Perry Ellis left the game early in the second with a possible concussion. He was fouled and hit on the head by Nate Lubick, then missed the subsequent free throw by about two feet.
The Jayhawks didn’t get much from Wiggins -- he shot just 3-10 and scored 12 points -- but Black came in off the bench and dominated Georgetown’s big men. Black finished with 17 points on 5-5 shooting with six rebounds and two blocks. Embiid scored 17, shooting 4-4 from the field and 9-12 from the free throw line, but much of that came with the game already decided.
Kansas moves to 8-3 and Georgetown falls to 7-3. The win gives the Jayhawks another mark on their NCAA tournament résumé, while Georgetown misses a chance to improve their out-of-conference performance. It was the Hoyas' first true road game of the season, and they looked rattled once Kansas stepped up its defensive pressure.
